Study Permits
Canada offers world-class education at its elementary and secondary schools, institutes, colleges, and universities. In order to obtain a study permit, an applicant must:
• Apply for, and obtain written admission, to a designated learning institution in Canada;
• Demonstrate sufficient funds to pay for tuition, books, living expenses and transportation to and from Canada;
• Pass medical and criminality checks; and
• Satisfy an officer that the applicant will leave Canada at the end of the authorized stay.
Students must be actively engaged in studies in order to maintain their study permits. If you wish to change your post-secondary institution, you must notify IRCC of this change through your student account on the cic.gc.ca website.
