Privacy Legislation

Personal Information

Personal information is defined in the PIPEDA as information that indentifies an individual or any information by which an individual’s identity could be deduced. Personal information does not generally include the information we can expect to find on a business card such as name, title or position, business address, telephone number of facsimile number. An e-mail address is considered to be personal information.

Collection of Personal Information

We obtain your consent to collect, use and disclose your personal information. Once you retain our services, you have consented to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information within the course of our representation.

Confidential Information

As licensed lawyers, we are bound by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the Law Society of Upper Canada and we have professional and ethical obligations to keep confidential the information we receive within a lawyer/client relationship. Section 2.03 (1) of the Rules of Professional Conduct states:

A lawyer at all times shall hold in strict confidence all information concerning the business and affairs of the client acquired in the course of the professional relationship and shall not divulge any such information unless expressly or impliedly authorized by the client or required by law to do so.

Any information you provide to us within a lawyer/client relationship constitutes confidential information.

Your Personal Information

If you email us at info@canadaimmigrationlawyers.ca or through our website, you may choose to provide personal information. We use the information you provide to respond to and communicate with you about your questions and inquiries.
